Our story
DIEGO’s story begins in 1992 with the opening of our first store in the 19th district of
Budapest. Building off of our founders’ background in textile engineering, the first
products to be carried were self-produced car, bath, and door mats. The concept
proved successful, and we expanded quickly. In 1995 we built our current
headquarters south of Budapest, along with a few thousand square meters of
warehouse space. We are proud to say that we established one of Hungary’s
first franchise systems, and 29 years later are one of its’ largest. Our store count has
grown from one location in Budapest, to over 150 stores in three countries, and our
warehouse space to over 16,000 square meters.
Many things have changed about our company in our almost 30 years of business,
but essential to our growth has been the number of team members who have been
with us since our early days, most for over 20 years. While we no longer selfproduce
the products we sell, we have established relationships with the most renowned
manufacturers in the world, from Europe to Asia. These longstanding relationships,
along with the experience and passion of our team, allow us to have our thumb
on the pulse of the rug industry.
It is this over a century of combined experience, and our relationships with our
manufacturing partners, that allow us to curate the most diverse rug collection on
the market today, and we are constantly on the hunt for sources of inspiration. From
Belgium to Turkey, India to Morocco, we search the world to bring you the best.
